I can divide the clothes I own into three categories. The first is items I wear to work, which primarily consist of black leggings, black jeans and white tops. The arrangement of these in my closet is usually a huge pile, as I’m always looking for that perfect white top similar to the 100 others that pretty much look exactly the same! The second category would be the chill out selection, these pieces are the ones I just throw on after a long day of wearing breath-restricting skinny black jeans all day, or the tops that I throw on while watching Netflix. Then there is the third pile, which I must admit takes most of the space in my wardrobe; it’s lycra, it’s colourful, it’s lovely and it’s my fastest growing type of clothing.

As I excitedly opened my Jilla Active delivery, I looked at the clothes and had to pause for a minute to decide as to which pile to add it to. My choices were Born to be Wild leggings, Om Yoga wine coloured bra and the blue Bamboo tank. The materials, colour and detail of each garment makes them incredibly versatile pieces, and this gave me the inspiration for this blogpost.

I have worn workout leggings at a rave before, and I loved it, I was the most comfortable girl there, and everyone kept asking me where I bought them from. I believe that being fashionable doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable experience, you can be stylish and able to breathe! Nothing is worse than having to unbutton your jeans after a huge meal!  Also, versatility within garments is useful; I hate buying something and never being able to wear it except in a very particular situation.

The Leggings

The grey Born To Be Wild Legging are simple, comfortable and very versatile. The detail of the black seam along the calves as well as the faint leopard pattern on the front add subtle character to the piece.

What I liked about the leggings, was the adaptability, I can match them with a sports bra and wear them to a sweaty HIIT workout, or I can throw on the bamboo top and wear them to a slow paced relaxing yoga session.

However these grey beauties can be dressed up with a leather jacket, a white top and ankle boots. I usually wear very simple block colour outfits, so I like to add a hint of glamour by throwing on some jewellery. I inject some colour to the outfit by wearing silver  rings, a gold necklace or earrings with coloured gem stones.

Alternatively you can dress the whole outfit down with a snug jumper and just chill at home.

The Bra

Bold in colour, unpadded and incredibly comfortable, the bra has a rich wine colour accompanied by the light pink straps which criss-cross along your back. For low support workouts such as yoga or Pilates this thing is perfect, coupled with the Born To Be Wild Legging, you are set to go to your workout in style.

The Om Yoga bra is also comfortable enough to wear outside of the gym, I like wearing it under a loose and thin top to add an extra accent to the outfit. Wearing it with a white off the shoulder top would show off the light pink straps.

The Top

Layers within an outfit is also great, especially if you’re off to a low impact workout that won’t get you too sweaty. You can transform your outfit by just adding an extra garment, and bam- you’ve got something new.

I always start my yoga practice feeling a bit chilly, and usually end up taking one layer off by the end of the session. The bamboo top is a simple loose top that can work for situations like that. You can wear it during the workout, or just throw it on at the end, top it off with a leather jacket and meet friends afterwards. The detail on the sides of your torso give it beautiful shape, adding a hint of action to the garment, while the cross at the back shows off your favourite top underneath. I usually wear it after a workout as it quickly transforms my gym outfit to something more casual, and so I can end up sitting in a café drinking a smoothie and not feeling out of place.

Within a normal day, I try to transform my outfits to match the activity I’m doing at the time, from being at work, to running to a workout, to meeting with friends and ending up relaxing at home. Comfort and versatility for me is how I get through my hectic days, so by playing around with simple changes to the outfit throughout the day, I manage to smoothly transition between different occasions and still be comfortable.
