Now that we are in the depths of summer, and we are practically living in an oven that we call England!  (I would have never imagined in a million years to say that). I thought I would share my favourite summer smoothie, nice cream inspired, full of nutrients bowl!

I am usually an advocate for nice easy breakfasts that are quick to make but equally nutritious, but I had a free morning and thought I would take a few pictures and share my go to recipe. With that said this recipe is quick and easy, you can do it as a quick snack or a nice desert when you have people over.

Once every few weeks, I buy a few ripe bananas and cut them into small slices, put them in a zip lock bag and just add them to smoothies. The frozen bananas add a smooth creamy texture and cools down the whole dish. (Note, when you do freeze your chopped up bananas, make sure you don’t squish them as you place them into the freezer as you don’t want to take out a big block of frozen bananas stuck together, trust me it’s a pain to breakup.)

I like to add a bit of almond or coconut milk too to help with the mushing of the bananas as my nutri bullet can’t hack through the frozen bananas without a liquid, if you like the rich taste of the bananas and have a strong mixer then go for it without any added milk.

Berries contain a good amount of antioxidants, nutrients and vitamins. I like to also freeze berries and use them whenever I need them for smoothies or nice creams, I find that blue berries and raspberries freeze the best especially that they go off so quickly in the fridge. But when I don’t have that at hand, I like to use Arctic Powder Berries, it is a new brand I got introduced to recently and has very quickly become one of my favourite additions to my smoothies. One 70g tube is equivalent to 700 grams of fresh wildly grown arctic berries and a teaspoon is equivalent to a handful of fresh berries, and they come in a few different flavours which mix into pretty colours. So if my freezer is empty, I pop in one teaspoon of powder and blend it in with the frozen bananas.

Finally, for decorations, I add some berries on top, and some nuts. If you want to turn this into a thicker and more protein based dish, then you can always add a scoop of protein powder while mixing it into your blender.
